No fewer than 382 young lives will be transformed after the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust gratefully received £244,644, at the CarFest celebratory breakfast. This was announced live on Chris Evans Breakfast Show at Virgin Radio today (20 November).
The brainchild of Chris Evans, CarFest was created with the mission to #DoMoreGood for UK Children’s charities. The special event to launch the 2020 ticket sales today, certainly demonstrated that.
It was a fantastic morning and in true CarFest style, Chris and the team at Brand Events pulled out all the stops by turning the Virgin Radio studio into a mini-festival site, with live music, performances, and celebrity guests.
Young people supported by the Trust, alongside CarFest’s other wonderful charity partners, were invited into the recording studio to share their stories live on air, giving the listeners a real insight into the amazing difference CarFest makes to so many young lives.
Gruff Crowther, was diagnosed with a brain tumor – an optic pathway glioma that affected his vision when he was just five years old. But that didn’t stop him from setting sail with the Trust, now aged 10 he confidently spoke about his experience and how it’s helped him by making friends who understand.
Chris Evans is passionate about not only using CarFest as a platform to raise vital funds but to also ensure those attending the events understand where their money goes and how the support directly helps young people across the UK.
The awareness raised is priceless and will help the Trust towards achieving the goal of working with every young person in recovery that needs support.
Next year the festival will continue to #DoMoreGood and raise vital funds for UK Children Charities, including the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
CarFest North takes place from 24th – 26th July @ Bolesworth in Cheshire
CarFest South takes place from 28th – 30th August @ Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire
Over the past eight years, CarFest has successfully raised over £16million for BBC Children in Need and its other partner charities the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, Starlight Children’s Foundation and Teenage Cancer Trust.
CarFest donates 25% of ticket sales direct to children’s charities each year, and Evans recently announced the festival’s aim to raise £21million by 2021 to mark CarFest’s 10th anniversary.
