The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is a national charity that takes young people aged 8-24 sailing and on outdoor adventures to inspire them to believe in a brighter future living through and beyond cancer. Cancer can have a big impact on a young person’s mental wellbeing. For many young people, simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis isn’t possible. That is why when treatment ends, our work begins. We believe every young person should feel accepted, independent, and optimistic living through and beyond cancer. Through sailing and outdoor adventure, young people have fun, gain a new sense of purpose and self-worth, rediscover independence, and feel optimism for the future. They realise what they are capable of again - physically, mentally, and socially – and stop feeling like ‘the only one’. They can believe in a brighter future.
