4-day Sailing Trip for a Young Person
Towards the end of a young persons treatment is where the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trusts work begins. We invite young people on a four-day sailing trip to take part in every aspect of running a yacht. They live, sleep and eat on the boat and set sail, either in the Solent or the Firth of Clyde, enabling them to step out of their illness in an environment which is inspiring, safe and fun. They are with other young people who have undergone similar treatments, who share the same worries and have also had their confidence stripped away.
The atmosphere a boat creates has an incredibly positive effect on the young people, concentrating very much on what they can achieve rather than what they cannot.
With your help, we will be able to take one young person on an all expenses paid four-day sailing trip in either Scotland or the Isle of Wight to help them regain their confidence on recovery from Cancer.
