It was special to be back with our partners at CarFest and Camp Bestival recently, and it was especially great to meet so many new friends across those weekends. Welcome to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust community – we’re glad to have you aboard!
Our founder and patron, Dame Ellen MacArthur explains the difference the Trust makes to young people living through and beyond cancer.
"There’s magic that happens on Trust trips. Young people who are living through and beyond cancer let their guard down, make new friends, learn new skills.
"It’s not about the sailing, but the environment sailing creates. Everyone tells stories, everyone is busy, they’re doing normal things again, some of them for the first time since their diagnosis.
"We often see a huge transformation in young people the first time they come with us. Parents write to us saying thank you for giving us our son or daughter back.
"Seeing those smiles is what it’s all about. The dream is to work with every young person in the UK who thinks we could help them."
