Statement on Indian variant of concern

We are obviously aware of the concern around the new Indian variant and understand you may have questions about the potential impact on our summer trip plans.

We have always made it clear our plans are based on three assumptions. That…

At this moment, although the variant is a cause for concern, none of these assumptions have been materially affected, and Government advice has not changed.

In the coming days and weeks, we will closely monitor the situation and if the Government’s lockdown roadmap and/or advice changes, and/or one or more of our assumptions are no longer being met, we will relook at what we are proposing for this summer. For now, we will keep moving ahead with our plans and hope we are able to successfully welcome young people back on the water from 12 July.

But, as we have stressed repeatedly since announcing our 2021 summer programme last month, nothing matters more than keeping young people and our team of staff, skippers and volunteers safe. That will remain our starting point for any decisions we take.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. Please also refer to our 2021 season FAQs for information on how we plan to keep young people safe this summer - Keeping young people safe in 2021 - FAQs
