Salterns Scramble Bank Holiday Fundraising Fun!

The Salterns Scramble is loosely based on a biathlon and involves a short run (length varies by age), target shooting (using water pistols) and a sail, with children from the age of four to 15 able to take part. All participants will be given a small prize and certificate.

There is no registration fee but a donation is suggested, all donations over £5 will receive a free t-shirt. In addition, all donations made above £25 will result in the sailor’s name being entered into a prize draw to win exciting prizes!

The Salterns Scramble will take place in waves, depending on the type of boat your child would like to sail with starts between 11pm and 3pm. There is fun for all of the family off the water too at the Sailing Club with stalls and competitions running all day, including a Teddy Tombola, other games and a cake baking competition. Lunch will be available between 12.30 and 2.00 pm as well as drinks and snacks throughout the day for a donation. Last but certainly not least, the highly anticipated Salterns Silent Auction will take place at the event, with an exciting array of great prizes donated by local people and businesses.

The money raised through the event will go to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, a national organisation set up 13 years ago by internationally renowned yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur that gives young people aged 8 to 24 in recovery from cancer the opportunity to take part in sailing trips to rebuild their confidence. The Trust works with every young person Principal Treatment Centre in the UK and a growing number of Designated Units in the UK. It receives no government funding and relies entirely on voluntary donations to provide sailing trips free of charge to the young people.
