Less than 24 hours remain until the start of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, yesterday we welcomed the 24 young people who will be taking part in the Race with the Trust to our base in East Cowes. All of them have been on trips with us before and enjoyed it so much that they are back for more!
Yesterday our young people were quick to make new friendships and had a packed day in preparation for the Race. Introductions, team building exercises, boat prep and loading the boats all formed part of the busy schedule with the evening reserved for some scrumptious dinner on-board the boats and a few board games to top the evening off.
Today the young people took to the water with their new crew-mates for a practice sail- a chance to get a taste of what is to come tomorrow.
Tonight our sailors will enjoy a team BBQ and ice creams before heading back to their boats for an early night ready for race day.
There is plenty going on over the weekend and the Trust team have been busy preparing. As well as five boats sailing around the Isle of Wight in the Race, we are also running a Round the Island cycling event as well as a 5K and half marathon run.
Cyclists and runners from our friends at J.P. Morgan Bournemouth will be looking to fundraise even more than last year and we have plenty of volunteers to support them and cheer them along. Make sure you give them a wave and a cheer if you see them out!

Look out for the Plaza Ice Cream Parlour mobile trolley for your chance to take part in an Ice Cream Lucky Dip in support of the Trust. We also have two competitions for our visitors="The Harken Grinder, where competitors try to post the fastest time for winching, and the &lsquo" Get Your Kit On’ competition where those taking part race to put on full sailing wet weather gear. Come and have a go to be in with a chance to win yourself some great Henri Lloyd prizes.
