Ready to go for Round the Island

25th June 15

With the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race just days away, this afternoon we welcomed the 25 young people who will be taking part in the Race with the Trust to our base in East Cowes. All of them have been on trips with us before and enjoyed it so much that they are back for more!

With the boats prepped and loaded, introductions and team building activities complete, the crews have retired to their yachts for the evening where they will be cooking dinner on board, playing games, and bonding ahead of tomorrow’s practice sailing.

There is plenty going on over the weekend and the Trust team have been busy preparing. As well as five boats sailing around the Isle of Wight in the Race, we are also running a Round the Island cycling event as well as a 10 KM and half marathon run.

Visit our stand in the Cowes Yacht Haven to find out more about the Trust and how you can get involved. Take a snap with your friends in our photo booth and look out for the Plaza Ice Cream Parlour mobile trolley for your chance to take part in an ice cream lucky dip in support of the Trust.

We are especially excited to have Isle of Wight Radio broadcasting live from our office tomorrow, 26 June, for their Round the Island Race preview show. Tune in between 07.00 – 10.00 AM tomorrow morning to hear about the work we do straight from the Trust team, volunteers and young people. We are also looking forward to having Isle of Wight Radio presenter, Anna Bingham, sail with us on Race day and broadcasting live from one of our yachts.

We will be fundraising all weekend to rebuild the confidence of even more young people in recovery from cancer.
