Ravi was just six years old when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Ten hours of surgery were followed by a year of intense rehabilitation.
As a result, he lives with facial palsy, hearing and sight loss on one side, a hand tremor, and balancing difficulties. He struggled with his confidence and adjusting to life back at school after treatment, too.
But last summer, Ravi, now 11, set sail on his first Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust adventure, allowing him to connect with other young people who understood his experience and renewing his sense of independence. His tumour is stable and he’s focused on adapting to his new normal, while looking ahead to a brighter future.
We are delighted Ravi will represent the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust at CarFest this summer, inspiring fans with his story and telling them why the funds they raise are so important to young people living through and beyond cancer.
Ravi is due to return to sail on a South Coast Cruising adventure in August too and we can't wait to see him again :)
