Radio 4 Appeal success funds more young people in 2020

More young people will receive life-changing support from the Trust this year following Radio 4 Appeal campaign

What a start to the new year it is to hear over £7,700 (and counting!) was raised from our BBC Radio 4 Appeal in December. Thanks to all who listened, shared and donated, more young people will be supported by the Trust in 2020.

Your support means recovery from a life-changing illness is made less isolating by funding sailing trips, on which young people rediscover what they are capable of and meet others who have been through the same thing. Lifelong friendships are made, and for many it’s the first time they have ever been able to talk about their experience with people their own age.

Listen again

For those who missed Dame Ellen MacArthur delivering the appeal over the Christmas week, it is still available to listen to here on the BBC’s website. It features an incredible story about Dervla’s experience with cancer and her recovery, which she wrote up and shared on our website last month.

It was a thrill listening to the Appeal on national radio, knowing so many people would hear about the importance of ongoing support after treatment ends. Miss the Appeal but would still like to support? You can help more young people like Dervla rebuild their lives after cancer here directly via the website.
