Wow! - Over £11,600 raised in BBC Radio 4 Appeal

Wow wow wow!

THANK YOU to everyone who supported our BBC Radio 4 Appeal over Christmas, whether you spread the word or personally made a donation. Because of you we raised over £11,696, which is going to make a huge difference to the lives of so many young people in recovery from cancer this year.

The really wonderful thing is that although the Appeal itself is over, BBC Radio 4’s support continues. Not only can you still listen to the Appeal here – Listen again – but the Trust is now also featured as one their Radio 4 Appeal stories – which you can read here. This means even if people didn’t hear the Appeal, or have never heard about the Trust, they can still discover the impact the Trust has on helping young people rebuild their confidence after cancer. Hopefully, they will choose to find out more and support us in the future.

Frank Fletcher, CEO, said: “The ongoing challenges many young people face after treatment ends aren't recognised enough. Through your support of the Appeal, we have increased awareness of why ongoing post-treatment support is so vital and the funds raised will help us achieve our ambitions to make better connections with, and have a bigger long-term impact on, more young people after cancer."

Dervla’s story

We’re so excited Dervla, who featured in our Radio 4 Appeal broadcast, has signed up to come back for our Scotland Longer Cruising return trip this summer. Dervla, from Northern Ireland, first sailed in Largs in recovery from a brain tumour, that she described as being the size of a “large, squashed lemon” last summer. This is the difference the Trust has made to her - Meet Dervla
