Meet your TCS London Marathon 2027 runners!

TCS London Marathon, here we come! 2027’s event will feature 24 runners taking on the iconic marathon for young people living through and beyond cancer.

We are so excited to introduce you to the Trust tribe who will be flying the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust flag in the TCS London Marathon next April!

2026’s event was the first time we had places in the world-famous marathon. What a privilege it was to see the runners drum up support and conquer the day itself, raising an incredible £79,791.

88 people applied to take part next year. After much deliberation, we filled our 20 spaces for 2027. Here are the heroes representing us at next year’s event.

The runners

The 20 runners come from all corners of our community and included some new faces too. Returning this year is Eleanor, who had to defer from 2026 due to injury. All of them are an inspiration, and we can’t wait to share their stories with you over the coming months.

“There’s no turning back!”

Harriet says she is ‘very excited’ to have a place in the marathon and to be doing it for us – and that it’s still far enough away to not be too scared by it yet either! Her youngest song, Josh, recently sailed with us for the second time in Largs, and his older brother Fin went on a siblings trip to the Lakes this summer, which makes running the marathon for us ‘even more special’.

She said: “I'm super excited to be doing the London Marathon, an event I grew up watching. The emotion and buzz of it comes across so clearly and I cannot wait to experience that myself. Both my boys have told me very firmly that the trips were absolutely worth the hard work of marathon training if it helps others benefit from the amazing things the Trust does, so I can't get out of it now!”

Lisa says the charity was a ‘lifesaver’ and had a huge impact on her family when her son Jack was able to spend a week with other young people who had gone through the same as he had.

She said: “Jack was diagnosed with non Hodgkin lymphoma in 2006 when he was six and about to go into year two in school. We were devastated as a family. Thankfully, he survived after ten rounds of aggressive chemo. There were many touch and go moments during that time. Jack is now 26 and living his dream as an engineer. He still talks about his times with the Trust."

Richard (pictured left on an epic European fundraising cycle), a medic volunteer since 2023, says he is also ‘super excited’ but a little apprehensive as he is not a runner! He said: “As a volunteer, I have seen the great benefit that the charity gives to the children and young people. I am therefore keen to help where I can.

“Secondly, I am looking for new challenges in my retirement from my NHS work. Having watched my son, Dylan, run in London in April for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, I was inspired to give it a go...definitely no competitive streak in me! So now I’ve started Couch to 5km. There’s no turning back.”

And ballot winners too!

Alongside those chosen to take part, three lucky ballot winners have also decided to raise money for us! With the TCS London Marathon 2027 taking place across two days next year, these runners will take on the Saturday event.

Thank you to each and every one of them for their dedication and best of luck – the entire Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust community is by your side.

Inspired already?

We have places in the TCS London Marathon up until 2029 and applications for 2028’s event will open next spring. Register your interest on our London Marathon page.
