Here we are again fast approaching Galapagos, we are all getting excited now. I’ve been stuck below decks, again! Astronavigation is quite time consuming as well as being soul destroying!! Apparently it’s been a nice day outside, and for the first time in days we saw a ship within 2 miles of us. Flying fish are all around the boat racing along against us, at the moment we are winning! I will be pleased to see my family Fiona, Jack, Emily and Lucy next week when we get home, for a while it looked as we were going to be out here a little longer, but the boat is back on track, after our minor Panamanian problem solving escapade. Back to the computer now………..

Jon Curtis (Mate)

So it’s that time again as Jon says to do the log for the third last time, yea guys it’s also coming close to our departure as well. I’ve been out in the lovely sun today staring the boat. Us girls have been refreshing our Irish culture. You know the way we always say situation all the time and we have a tone in which we say things such as Nana na na na na inflection through certain words, My family will understand hehe, we also did a gipsy moth Belfast rap the film for this should be up on the net as soon as possible it is so funny. Preview English tone “Hello Friend” Belfast Tone “Bout yee love” and so on. I got a little sun today again. The crew are looking forward to reaching the Galapagos Islands, we have enjoyed the time on board and don’t want it to end unfortunately it has to sum where, here’s to the last view days on board hope your still enjoying the coverage as much as we are enjoying doing it for you guys following. Thanks everyone for your support. I cannot wait to get back to see all my friends, my boyfriend Phillip and most importantly my loving family. Mum, dad, brother and niece.
Love you all Maria (Crew)

Hey everyone its coming up to our last few logs, I hope everyone has enjoyed the footage posted on the web we certainly had fun making it. We are close to the Galapagos and it’s starting to kick in that we are going home its good in ways because we want to see all our loved ones but at the same time the experience has been amazing and for me personally it may have twisted my arm for a career change. We have all got along so well like a big happy family if not better I don’t think we could have had a better crew thanks again to everyone that made this trip possible for us we appreciate it so much. Well today Laura and I got our very own love shack teehee, Sam made us a hammock by hanging the head sail off the spinnaker pole it was so groovy baby! Every time a big wave came it hit the bottom of the hammock n we got wet bums but it was very refreshing so we didn’t complain, when we went to get in it seriously looked like we were gonna plunge to a watery death but us daredevils jumped on in having faith in our trusty skipper Scuba Sam. Really cant wait to see you david and of course all my friends and family.
Lots of love Barbara (Crew)

Hey dudes! Lesson for today-Lying in the hot sun will not turn you into a bronzed Australian beauty over night but instead into a bright pink and white bacon rasher-enough said. Pass the after sun… Our arrival time in the Galapagos is approx 6 am 12th March so that means only 2 more skipper logs and night watches-nnooooo .I have enjoyed everything about my time away and although our voyage on Gipsy Moth is coming to an end I hope that the close bonds and friendships developed on board will continue on for a very long time, (I mean we need to keep Pete around who else will give him grief?) We are all very sad that it’s coming to an end and trying to look at the all the positive things we can take from this I have personally learned a lot about myself and have a different more open outlook on things. I’m thinking of running off to Australia and flogging myself as a Galley wench! But hey the curtain aint closed yet The Laura Walsh Experience (as Pete calls it) has yet to grace the Galapagos and so the journey continues! Enough of the soppy stuff dudes don’t wanna bore you with my Bridget Jones moment…Haha anyway The Gipsy Butterflies and Mr Hawaii 2006 will continue to rock on and keep you entertained (hopefully)!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at home love you all!
Take Care
An oven baked Laura xoxo

Oiy, don’t start all that, we still have at least another 36 hrs until we approach the islands, and that’s if the boat doesn’t sink or run out of diesel!! (The crews logs all sound so sad!)
We informed the crew that our arrival is well ahead of schedule due to Dez’s superb astronavigation and my personal attention to detail with all the sail trim, well…..perhaps not, it possibly had a little diesel help!

The fresh meats are starting to walk out of the cool box today, Fortunately for us the two large steaks didn’t escape, and the dodgy sausages look to be sort of edible, unfortunately we are not quite sure what animal they put in these sausages, I can however tell you that they are absolutely Rank! And that I would rather suck my toes than have another! For your information… my toes aren’t that nice either!

Capt Connelly!

Well another great day is coming to the end; we are all still enjoying the whole experience. The girls are trying to get in as much sun time as possible as we are now back onto the original timescale, however I have made a new a rule. If they get sun stroke and make themselves sick they will have to clean the heads for the rest of the trip (toilets), Maria was sick yesterday and Barbara was sick today. So the new rule starts today, which I can tell you has put the fear of toilet duck into them. I just hope it is not me tomorrow who feels sick with the heat!!
The night watch has just started so we have people on deck sailing the boat and the remainder are down below having a nap or working on the computer, it is a quite time on board compared with the rest of the day when we are flat out with all our duties. The night watch is extremely peaceful on deck and is probably my favourite time on board as it is just us under the stars making our way to the Galapagos across this vast expanse of water. Last night we were entertained by a large electrical storm of to our right, which include thunder and big explosions of lighting. Hope everyone at home is well, I can tell you that the girls are all ok and still driving me mad with the constant singing. However they are all looking forward to coming home. Lots of Love to everyone see you all soon.
