Get your Trust Christmas cards

For the first time, a young person’s winning t-shirt design is the inspiration for this year’s Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust’s Christmas cards

After winning a competition to design the Trust’s t-shirts for 2021, Alysia Rae’s stunning artwork will now also feature on the Trust’s Christmas cards this festive season.

Alysia, 20, was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan anemia – a rare bone marrow disorder – in 2011. In 2018, she sailed from the Trust’s Largs base for the first time, before returning again in 2019.

Her t-shirt design, adorned with inspirational words associated with the Trust and recovery, has been adapted to fit inside a Christmas tree bauble surrounded by snowflakes for the Trust’s magical Christmas card.

Alysia said: “My design was inspired by the incredible bonds that are created on the trips. My favourite memory is when we sat out on deck in our pyjamas and just talked, played games, and had fun nearly all night long.

“The Trust is important to me because it provides a chance to meet with other young people who have a similar idea of what you’re going through.”

Alysia’s standout design encompasses how the Trust community pulled together this year even when there was no way to be together on the water.
