Festival Fever ⭐

We LOVE summer! Not only do we get to meet incredible young people every week during the trips, but this year the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust was named charity partner at not just one but three amazing family festivals.

The last weekend of July turned into a festival extravaganza as both CarFest North and Camp Bestival fell on the same weekend and WOW what a weekend it was.

Sophie and Dan stole the show at CarFest North Sophie, who sailed with the Trust for the first time last year, and skipper Dan stole the show at CarFest North as they joined radio presenter and festival creator, Chris Evans, on the main stage on the opening night.

There was barely a dry eye in the house as they shared their Trust experience to a crowd of 40,000 people. and, Chris, was blown away by their humbling stories.

He said: “Meeting both Sophie and Dan was truly inspiring. Dan is a survivor who has given back in the most impactful way and Sophie is a true legend, who I have no doubt will grow into a beautiful and confident young woman, all thanks to the work of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.

"I’m so proud that the funds we raise from CarFest will go to help more young children like Sophie become strong and valuable members of the community like Dan, and continue the cycle of helping others.”

Sophie and her sister Amy perfoming in the Rock Choir at Car Fest North To top off the weekend Sophie and her older sister Amy were part of the Rock Choir performing on the mainstage with young people from the other five CarFest charities.

Sophie said: “I loved it. Singing was amazing I really enjoyed it, no way would I have done this a year ago.”

Meanwhile down south, we were once again official charity partner at Camp Bestival, thanks to our awesome Trust Ambassador, Rob da Bank. We loved the theme of Heroes Vs Superheroes as it gave us an opportunity to talk about our everyday heroes and share the stories of the young people we support.

Lewis Capaldi wearing his Trust hoodie at Camp BestivalMeeting all the lovely festival-goers and spreading the word of the Trust is what it’s all about.

We met so many wonderful people over the weekend, including our new Scottish pal, 2019's biggest music sensation, Lewis Capaldi, who sported a Trust hoodie and had a special message for all the Trust heroes we support ⬇️

But the festival fun isn’t over yet as this weekend we will be heading to CarFest South at Laverstoke Park (23- 25 August) to #DoMoreGood for young people in recovery from cancer.

Sophie and Dan will be inspiring festival-goers again, our Harken grinding competition will be back in action and the inspirational Rock Choir featuring the real stars of the show will perform in the grand finale on Sunday evening.  Get festival fever by following our @emctrust social media over the weekend.
