Camp Bestival

The Trust fundraising team had an amazing time at Camp Bestival last weekend, held at Lulworth Castle in Dorset. We’re so grateful to our awesome ambassador Rob da Bank for making us the official charity partner and the lovely Camp Bestival crew for welcoming us onsite, we had a blast.

With the fancy dress theme of ‘Set Sail’ our Trust captain hats sold like hot cakes, especially when the wonderful Mary Berry was spotted wearing one after joining Rick Astley and his band on the main stage when they headlined on Friday night.

Dan Monk who sailed with the Trust as a young person shared his moving story in the literary tent. Having twice battled leukaemia, Dan believes that the physical sport of sailing helped him to survive the life-threatening disease. Having gained his Yachtmaster qualification Dan is now able to lead Trust trips as a skipper and support and inspire other young people.

The team enjoyed meeting lots of lovely people and families, making new friends including Fearne Cotton, Sara Cox and HRVY who all rocked their Trust Captain Hats. It was a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness for the Trust, which will enable us to reach more young people who need our support.

Unfortunately, we had to abandon ship early due to the severe weather conditions. But fear not if you didn’t get a Trust Captains hat, there’s still time to get your hands on one by dropping us an email – [email protected]

We raised an incredible amount of money over the weekend, which will enable more young people to set sail on a Trust trips giving them the opportunity to dream, laugh, achieve and embrace life once again.
