No fewer than 11 more young people will have the chance to rebuild their confidence after cancer thanks to the super support from our friends at Camp Bestival.
An amazing £5632.69, was raised onsite through the generosity of those that visited the Trust stand and the kindness of the Camp Bestival crew, which will give 11 young people the opportunity to enjoy a first time trip next summer.
Not only does the money raised over the weekend transform young lives but it also provides a fantastic platform to raise awareness of the difference Trust trips make – meeting all the lovely festival-goers and spreading the word of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is what it’s all about.
The theme of this year’s festival could not have been more fitting for the charity partnership, explains Ellen MacArthur, the Trust’s founding patron:
“We particularly love the theme Super Heroes vs Heroes, because for me personally the young people that sail with the Trust are my heroes. They are the most inspirational young people who are all in recovery from cancer, who are able to look beyond their illness and show the greatest passion for life that you will ever come across.
“Being told you have cancer is a line in the sand, it’s brutal, not only for the young people but also for their families and when that treatment stops, that’s where we step in. We help young people to get on with their lives and embrace their future following cancer and we are hugely grateful for the support that Camp Bestival brings.”
We would like to say a massive thank you to all those that visited our stand at the Lulworth Castle site in Dorset over the weekend, and to Next clothing who donated the money from their face painting raising an additional £1,000.
To top off an awesome weekend 2019’s biggest music sensation and our new Scottish pal, Lewis Capaldi sported a Trust hoodie and had a special message for all the young people in recovery from cancer 🤩
