Baytown and the Trust
The Baytown Coffee Company, nestled on the North Yorkshire Coast, has a very personal connection to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. Founded and run by Nick and Ann Louise, their 16-year-old son Harry has been supported by the Trust since 2018 after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia aged four.
With Harry having enjoyed five sailing and outdoor adventures, including another week-long Scotland longer cruising sail from Largs this summer, the Hartley’s know first-hand the impact the Trust has on young people like Harry. That’s why they wanted to give something back by creating a brand new, delicious coffee dedicated to the Trust.
Harry said: “When I went on my first trip, I wouldn’t have thought of this ever happening, it’s very special. Being with the Trust is just a collection of good memories and what makes the trips so good is you’re speaking to people who’ve had similar experiences. It’s eye opener as to how far you’ve come and how far you’ve got to go as well.”
Nick said: “Baytown’s purpose is about more than coffee. It’s about giving back to our community, ensuring we can have a positive impact on communities and spreading goodness wherever we can. I believe in everything the Trust does, it’s just a positive thing. It’s real, it’s tangible, it’s touchable and, especially with the Ambitions for the next few years, I was just madly impressed.”
A taste of the Trust
Once the new coffee has its name it will be launched and available for anyone to buy the bag or as a subscription via the Baytown Coffee Company website.
But hurry! You only have ONE WEEK - until next Thursday (27 July) - to vote for your favourite name and enter the free prize draw. The winning coffee name and subscription winner will be announced on Thursday 17 August. We will also share all the details about how you can get yours.
Ella Rowlinson, the Trust’s Community & Individuals Fundraiser, said: “We cannot thank Nick, Ann Louise, and the whole wonderful Baytown team enough for coming up with this super innovative way to support the Trust."
