Each year the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust employs freelance Skippers to work on our 4-day sailing trips (June-October)
As a Skipper, you have overall responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the crew, the safety and security of the vessel and its equipment at all times. Supported by a Mate and a Crew Leader you will help the young people we work with feel safe on the yachts, learn some sailing skills, socialise with their peers, and most importantly have an unforgettable time. Socialising and playing games throughout the trip are as important as the sailing, and there are usually a few water fights along the way too!
To fulfil the role of Skipper on board an Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust trip, you must hold a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster or Cruising Instructor certificate, and experience working with young people is highly desirable.
To apply for a freelance Skipper position with the Trust, please email your CV and an explanation as to why you would like the Skipper for the Trust to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject line ‘Skipper Application’.
