The World's greatest half marathon

We're sorry to report the 2020 Great North Run has been cancelled due to COVID-19. But keep an eye out for details of the 2021 event, which we will bring you as soon as we have an update.

From the start line in Newcastle city centre, the 13.1-mile route takes runners across the iconic Tyne Bridge and past thousands of cheering crowds in Gateshead before heading out towards South Shields and the coast.

With musical entertainment, charity cheer points and plenty of local support, this half marathon is definitely one to tick off your to-do list! Rub shoulders with the greats of long distance running and enjoy celebrity spotting as you support young people in recovery.

"I was one year into remission in summer 2019, doing the Great North Run is a pretty big sign I’m back!" - Meg

We have more places than ever before for the Great North Run. But this event is incredibly popular and tickets will go quickly. Don’t wait and be disappointed. Sign up now!

Each runner will receive a personalised Trust running top to wear during training and on the day. We will be with you every step of the way, cheering you on and providing fundraising support.
