Anytime in September | Wherever you are!
Get together with friends, family, colleagues and clubmates – old and new – throughout September to have fun, raise money and make your difference for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
September is a time when things restart. At school, work, university, college, clubs, and in our communities across the country, people are reconnecting and meeting new people after the summer.
So, we’re asking you to make it a social September to remember, and to ‘Gather for Good’ to change young lives for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Whether getting back together with people you know or are bringing people together for the first time, use those moments – small or big - to raise money so we are here for even more young people who need vital support after the trauma of cancer.
Throw a coffee morning, organise a games or quiz night, host a ‘crafternoon’ or board game brunch; think about what you can do to connect the people in your life and fundraise or donate to make even more possible.
Getting started
Just tell us your ideas or set up a JustGiving page. We’ll then be in touch and set you up with everything you need, from collection tins to posters.
Want to get involved but need inspiration? Check out our fundraising guide or email us [email protected] and we’ll be able to help you get started.
Anytime in September! This fundraiser is designed to fit naturally into moments that are already happening in people’s lives. That could be a one‑off gathering, like a coffee morning or quiz night. Or something more regular, like a weekly dog walk with friends or a social evening following training of a club you're a part of.
September is when lots of groups restart or welcome new members, making it the perfect time to build in a fundraiser. You might tie your get together to:
If people are already coming together anyway, it's a perfect chance to gather for good.
Wherever you like! It could be at home or work, university or school. It could be down the pub, at your local yoga night or with your Scout group. Just make sure you inform and gain permission from the relative authorities.
Simply decide what you’d like to do, then:
Once you’re registered, we’ll be in touch with everything you need to get started.
There’s no right or wrong way to take part!
Anything that brings people together and gets them chatting. Whether it's your rugby team's end of year awards night, a curry and quiz night with your colleagues, or a crafternoon with your friends and family, gather with the people in your life and make a difference.
Not at all. Every penny you raise makes a difference in the lives of the young people living through and beyond cancer. If 10 people raise £50 that’s £500. Or go bigger and have a clear fundraising target to inspire the people involved to give more.
The money you raise will help the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust provide transformational sailing and outdoor adventures to inspire young people living through and beyond cancer to believe in their brighter future again.
That’s what we’re here for! Take a look at our fundraising guide or email [email protected] and we’ll help you come up with an idea that suits you and your schedule.
Yes! This campaign works brilliantly in workplaces. From team breakfasts to social clubs after work, quizzes or informal gatherings with colleagues. A get together could be a great opportunity to get to know the people sitting across the office. You can also ask your employer if they would be interesting in match funding any money you raise, doubling the amount you’ll fundraise!
Yes, absolutely. They could ask their headteacher or teacher to support an event the whole school can take part in, helping to build a sense of community among pupils.
Fundraising can also work brilliantly through the everyday moments where parents naturally connect. School drop‑offs and pick‑ups, playground chats, PTA groups and class WhatsApp conversations are all great opportunities to come together. This could be as simple as a playground coffee morning, a cake sale at the end of the school day, or a class‑led get together organised by parents.
