Our eyes and ears
The Trust Youth Board is one of our most unique assets.
Established in 2013, the Youth Board provides an invaluable link between the young people and the Trustees. Its aim is to provide a more informal forum to gather trip feedback and identify what the young people really want from the trips.
In 2014 Youth Board co-founder, Claire Amaladoss who first sailed with us in 2007 after treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma, was appointed our first Trust graduate to the full Board of Trustees.
“It’s symptomatic of how the Trust consistently puts us, the young people, at the heart of what it does. The Trust is breaking the mould as a progressive and innovative charity in their governance.”
Up to 10 young people, who have all sailed with the Trust in recovery, make up the Youth Board, which meets twice a year.
Its real value is that all the young people have been in the same situation, are at different stages of recovery and have different experiences so know what really matters to others now grappling with the same vulnerabilities, doubts and fears.
