Operations Coordinator (Largs, permanent, full-time)
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is a charity that takes young people aged between 8 and 24 sailing to help them regain their confidence as part of their recovery from cancer.
The Operations Coordinator role will suit you if you like to work in a busy and varied environment. Although our trips run in the summer months we’re busy all year round working with contacts at each of the Principal Cancer Treatment Centres across Scotland and the North of England to give young people the opportunity to join one of our trips.
You will be responsible for developing strong relationships with our hospital contacts and then the young people (and/or their parents) as they move from someone who is interested in coming on a trip through to them arriving on a Monday morning at Largs ready to join us for a confidence building experience.
There are many steps to get to that point so an understanding of process and excellent attention to detail will ensure that you will succeed in helping to achieve our aim of happy young people taking part in a great adventure in a safe environment.
This will include but not be limited to email and phone contact with the contacts at Principal Treatment Centres, young people and their parents, updating our database, ensuring that all of the required medical forms are completed, following up on medical queries, organising travel for young people and speaking to them before their trip. You will be the young people’s main contact with the Trust until they arrive in Largs.
We’re looking for someone with great communication skills, solid process and admin experience combined with a high degree of empathy. You may also be required to step up and deputise for the Operations Manager from time to time.
Outstanding time management skills and a demonstrable ability to juggle multiple priorities with varying deadlines is essential.
It’s a small team and there are times of the year when everyone gets stuck in to achieve our goals. There is also a requirement for some flexibility around working hours when we’re running trips between June and September.
To be considered for this role you’ll need several years of varied experience in a similar type of role. You’ll also need good IT skills and a Full Driving licence would be a real advantage. The role requires membership of the PVG Scheme and is subject to references.
Have a look at our website and see if you like what we do. If you think you would enjoy being part of this busy operation, send your CV and a short covering letter by email to email@example.com
The closing date is noon on Monday 18th September. First interviews will be the following week on Monday 25th with Second interviews on Tuesday 3rd October 2017.
